Amazing functionality but with some ease of use issues
A very very precise perpetual solar powered timepiece capable of tracking the time in two zones (you toggle between locations using the crown) pretty thin at a great street price. The hands have nice night time illumination. The leather strap and deployant buckle are pretty plush. Some of the functionality is hard to use and there is a cheap look to the metal bezel (which marks easily; the glass seems tough enough).
This thing is really a time computer instead of a watch; when you change modes the hands change function in such a way that to get back to the time you must be accessing a computer memory. Also it has the cute (really) habit of napping when it has been in the dark for some long time. Then when you look at it it senses light wakes up and the second hand moves madly to catch up.
The crown:
It is way too easy to pull the crown out two stops into the setting mode which could cost you the correct time instead of one stop into the position where you can change modes.
The alarm:
To see what at time the alarm is set you change to the alarm mode and it may take (really) a minute or more while the hands move to show that time (the minute hand actually goes round and round as the hour hand advances ... its a 24 hour alarm which is very nice there's a separate indicator keeping track of 24 hour time). Then the same thing in the other direction when you need
the time again. The alarm is very very dim I would not trust it to wake me up. When the watch is in the calendar mode where the second hand shows the month there is no way to see whether the alarm is on (that hand can only be used to show the number of years to the next leap year ... likewise when it shows whether the alarm is on it can't access that leap-year function).
The second time zone:
Quite easy to use its synched to the main time in hour increments. Just don't go to Teheran or any other place where time isn't on the hour that isn't possible without resetting the main watch time. There's a 2ndary dial which tells you whether the 12 hour hands are pointed to am or pm in either time zone.
And it may take a long time to move to the 2nd time if you need to check that see the comments on checking the alarm time.
bottom line: the gaffes probably stand out more just because the good parts are so good. Its almost a perpetual motion machine!

Just loved it!
It looks stunning on the wrists. It is great too to have "3 watches in one". I personally love having it all red but mixing red and blue looks great too!
And if you have thin wrists dont be afraid: i have VERY VERY thin wrists and i find it very difficult to buy watches because of that. But no problem with this one. It is lovely now i will buy one for my sister too i am sure she will like it!

Nice looking but poor quality.
I didn't even have it 9 months before the second hand stopped working it would spin around whenever you would move your arm. That in turn changed the time constantly. It was a complete piece of a junk my cheapo dollar store watch has lasted longer.
It's a great watch if you don't plan on wearing it much!

Ludicrously huge
I didn't pay very close attention when I bought this. I thought the style was cool and that the watch would be a normally sized one (I wasn't paying attention to the specs). To say that I was surprised that it was so huge is an understatement. The heft of it on my wrist is huge - more of a "wristclock" than a "wristwatch". I was so surprised by the hugeness of it that I kept asking my daughter (who is 16) whether I should return it.
After a while though and some wearing I realized that this ludicrously huge watch is also ludicrously nice. It's obviously well-built and definitely has a style that stands out. I certainly will NOT be returning this one!
My advice: If you don't want to attract attention with your watch for God's sake don't buy this watch. However if you want something distinctive that looks like it will last forever this is the watch for you!
Update (40 days later): I still like the look of the watch but the stopwatch feature now resets to two seconds rather than to zero seconds. A little thing I know but it kind of defeats the purpose of a stopwatch to be two seconds off.

Great but for the stitching
Yes it is clean simple elegant etc. After just over a month however the stitching is coming loose -- and I have been very careful really. This cannot be right and perhaps I should deduct more than one star as it's not what you expect from a watch at any price.
So a qualified positive review when it would have been a straightforward excellent.

Fantastic Aviator-style watch and relatively good value
I'm a big fan of Oris so I was very anxious to see this watch in person. Just to get it off my chest this watch is awesome! The quality of the watch is very good with one minor issue which I'll describe below.
The 42mm stainless steel case feels very solid. This is a watch that will last a long time. Although hard to see from the Amazon photo the watch appears to be two pieces of steel bolted together by the four hexagonal bolts visible from the face. However it's not apparent as to whether or not these are functional or just for looks. I didn't want to try and loosen them!! When looking at the watch from the side you see a very round watch. My only negative comment is that the edges of the case seem somewhat sharp. Definitely not sharp enough to cut something but I would have expected a much more chamfered edge. It's minor but noticeable. The see-through case-back shows the well known red rotor and the Oris 645 (modified ETA 2836).
As is on nearly all Oris watches the crown is substantial. This one has a spiral-like etched surface which not only looks nice but allows for an easy grip. The crown doesn't screw down but does features Oris Quick Lock system which I feel is better then the screw-down especially given this is not a diver watch.
The face is incredibly easy to see due to the contrasting colors. The sapphire crystal is slightly domed and has anti-reflective coating on the inside. No doubt it makes the face very easy to see. The partially exposed date ring is an interesting touch. I was concerned that it would be confusing to see the correct date but I didn't have any issues. The small second hand moves very smoothly. I love the pointer day. It's a really great feature. Since the pointer has red marking it's very easy to see what day it is.
Finally the leather strap has a very firm stainless steel clasp. It's very easy to take on/off and resize. The white stitching is the perfect touch as it goes well with the face. There is also a stainless steel bracelet option but it really changes the look of the watch. I think it makes the watch look smaller.
This is a really fantastic watch which I would highly recommend for anyone that's interested in a everyday or weekend sports watch. Oris quality and design is very well demonstrated. If you don't have an Oris watch in your collection this could be the perfect first watch.
